Graphic Design

The Graphic Design program at Marietta College supports the conceptual and creative development of the modern designer with a curriculum that covers the many facets of the design field. Graduates leave the program with confidence that they will succeed at pursuing a career in graphic design.

Prototype

Inspiration for new typefaces can come from history, necessity and pure exploration. Each student explores using an alternative material and/or found objects (pretty much anything you wouldn’t typically use to illustrate) to create a letterform and eventually a typeface.

Book Cover Series Designs

When you go to a bookstore or a library, how do you choose a book to pick up? Ultimately, we do judge a book by it’s cover. So much success in the literary field depends on a small amount of space (the cover). An author may have a expertly written novel, but who would know unless they were tempted to pick that book up out so many options? Ultimately, the success lies on whether a designer can effectively grab the attention of the viewer within such a small amount of space.

Infographic Posters

Information Design is the process of visually communicating complex information. This is not limited to graphs, charts, maps and timelines, but requires the designer to understand what informational content is essential for a viewer to understand the topic, as well as when too much information is included and confuses the reader.
